Since my childhood, I’ve always been adventurous – a bit of a rebel. I questioned everything I saw. When I heard there were starving children in the world, I believed we could do something about it. When I discovered there were senior citizens left alone in the “old folks’ home” (no longer politically correct) I knew they needed friends. When a bully pushed me down and chipped my two front teeth, I recognized he needed better relationships, too.
Our motivation and drive are influenced by a few key factors. Intensity, direction, and persistence may ultimately impact our behavioral change. How hard is a person trying to do something? Are their efforts being directed properly? How easily do they give up or throw in the towel when faced with challenges?
Lovely’s story, in the simplest form, may parallel many of the stories and challenges we see today. Horrific crimes against children, blatant disregard for the homeless, or manipulation of the disadvantaged for financial gain. There are roadblocks, unjust laws and, frequently, no answers appear to be in sight.
Nothing is impossible!
Loving our neighbor is still important…even in a pandemic. We can accomplish more when we work together. Our loving pushback for the things that matter, only requires a tiny seedling of faith to move mountains!
