Ships Series Script for TV

A group of twenty something friends take a journey to find meaning that charts them on a course within. This melodrama unveils crisis, compassion, challenge and inspiration. Relationships and Friendships embark on a journey of hooks and nets.

Lexi

27-year-old African American female, succesful insurance agent, married to Darryl. Raised by a single mom, tormented by her absent father, suffers with an eating disorder and low self-esteem. She has strong spiritual beliefs and periodically attends services; embarrassed Darryl doesn’t come with her.

Darryl

25-year-old African American male, works odd jobs, outgoing personality, currently unemployed, served 7 years for drug possession, suffers with depression, fits of rage, and is married to Lexi. His strong mom and the streets raised him and his 3 brothers. The prison was home to their father and drug management was his fathers’ language of choice. Darrly’s mom was very religious.

Jessi

23-year-old Latin African American female, attends community college, bothered by Rico; her over protective brother. She’s addicted to social media and loves to dance. Recently offered an opportunity to “perform” at a gentleman’s club; she considers her desire to attend nursing school. She occasionally watches spiritual and cult-ish clips online.

Rico

29-year-old Latin African American male, assistant manager. He’s nice on the eye and knows it, often dated Larae (unknown to the group) grew up in an urban hood, lives with his girlfriend. Rico’s mom was married to his father; he was in the military and killed during active duty. Growing up, Rico’s mom was a devout Catholic then left the faith amid its national scandal with young boys.

Larae

28-year-old African American female, aggressive real estate agent, loves high end fashion, frequently in casual relationships, and vows never to get married. Her two-parent household was blanketed in debt, stress and a life where more was never enough. Her childhood nights were often bulleted with hurtful words and arguing parents. Her family attended weekly services, keeping up appearances in their small well-known congregation.

Dejon "D"

27-year-old African American male, former star running back in high school, a torn ACL knee injury ended his college scolarship, career and hopes of going pro. He’s a fitness trainer and has been friends with Lexi since middle school. Growing up, he was very spiritual, popular, charismatic, and had great leadership skills. After his injury he blamed God and never went back.

Khaleef

30-year-old Jamaican American male, property manager. His father died 10 years ago late one evening, from a fatal car accident due to him driving drunk. Mystery surrounds his death because the woman also killed in the car was allegedly 3 months pregnant. Growing up he and his mom attended services most Saturdays without his father.

Episode 1

“Bow”

The group of friends convene for a meal and matters of respect. Lexi deals with Darryl’s jealousy and rage while Jessi’s steamy job choice lands her in the hospital with life threatening consequences

Episode 2

“Port”

Rico catches the eye of a coworker. Jessi establishes new boundaries. Darryl is presented with an opportunity to get back in the drug game. Sex, adultery and realistic choices put the group at odds.

Episode 3

“Stern”

D and Larae reveal private secrets and struggles. Lexi and Darryl reach out for help while Jessi becomes support at a local shelter. Jessi’s boss chronicles life on the street and receives a dangerous visitor.
